Generations Church shines as a welcoming beacon in the City of San Bernardino. It goes beyond being just a church in the community; it serves as the church for the community. Pastor Jim Hall led the transformation of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship into Generations Church, embodying a straightforward philosophy: “Come one, Come all, where simplicity and spirituality is a gift to anyone who attends.” In this place, you are encouraged to “Gather, Grow, and Go,” a constant reminder of your purpose.
Generations Church approached A&I with an exciting beautification project. They sought assistance enhancing their space with directional or wayfinding signage, wall coverings, logo enhancements, and inspirational quotes.
Despite the challenge of installing exterior signs due to weather conditions, including rain and wind, our A&I installation team persevered through the project. We met the deadline with determination and a positive spirit, creating a beautiful outcome that exceeded expectations.
WALLCOVERING & WALL WRAPS
A&I initiated the project by starting with the Hallway section, where we installed a stunning vinyl wall wrap. The chosen graphic was a world map printed on premium vinyl with a matte lamination to ensure its durability in the high-traffic hallway. The installation involved overlapping sections, resulting in a remarkable display measuring 144” x 94.5”.
A&I skillfully adorned the sanctuary wall with a captivating vinyl decal, showcasing the powerful mantra “Gather, Grow, and Go.” Measuring an impressive 74” x 88”, this decal infused the space with purpose and a positive atmosphere. Above the sanctuary window, a significant quote in vinyl letters emphasizes the church’s mission and constantly reminds the congregation: “Helping Each Generation. Gather in Community, Grow in Christ and Go Serve the World” This thoughtful touch enhanced the overall ambiance and reinforced the church’s commitment to their community.
The wall coverings and murals were meticulously printed in panels and overlapped for a seamless finish to the installation. The result was a visually stunning transformation that brought the space to life.
Wallcovering or Wall Wraps offer an ideal solution for various settings, including schools, colleges, churches, hospitals, medical and dental offices, daycare centers, senior living facilities, hotels, restaurants, model homes, and private or retail businesses. They provide a convenient and mess-free alternative to traditional paint, allowing you to effortlessly transform a room, add texture, and create dynamic visual effects. In fact, wall wraps are equally suitable for enhancing your home decor.
Wall wrap designs can immerse your clientele in a delightful and positive experience, as demonstrated by Generation Church’s use of simple yet uplifting messages.
The process is relatively straightforward if you’re considering revitalizing a space with a wallcovering, wall wrap, mural, or decal. However, it’s essential to be aware of potential challenges. A&I highly recommends initiating the project with an on-site consultation to ensure a successful outcome. During this consultation, we will conduct a wall adhesion test, meticulously measure the space, and carefully assess the environmental factors. These essential steps are crucial for the project’s success, ensuring that your chosen wall covering remains securely attached, maintains its visual appeal, and endures for years to come. Unfortunately, not all materials are compatible with every wall surface. Therefore, A&I will conduct a comprehensive test beforehand to determine the most suitable product for your specific project, allowing us to make an informed recommendation tailored to your project’s needs.
We can’t stress enough how accurate measuring is crucial in any project. As the saying goes, “measure twice, cut once,” but in reality, we often measure more than twice to ensure precision. Our A&I team meticulously measures the full wall dimensions down to a quarter inch. One of the challenges we face is that most walls are not perfectly square. Ceilings may slope, and walls may have electrical plugs, thermostats, or other permanent obstructions that require wrapping around while maintaining a seamless match with the graphics and text.
For the Generations Church project, we followed a thorough consultation process, conducted precise measurements, and thoroughly examined the walls where the decals and coverings were to be installed. In this specific case, the wall required treatment with a primer before applying the adhesive-backed wall covering. When selecting the most suitable material for the area, we also took into account environmental factors such as sunlight exposure and traffic. Considering these elements ensures that the chosen material will be best suited for the area, guaranteeing its longevity.
BLACK ALUMINUM COMPOSITE BEAUTIFICATION WITH SIGNS
We crafted directional and wayfinding signs using 3mm Black Aluminum Composite, a versatile material known for its exceptional qualities. Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) consists of two pre-finished aluminum sheets bonded to a polyethylene core, resulting in a rigid and durable sheet. Despite its lightweight nature, ACM is commonly utilized for outdoor signage and channel letter backings. Even in humid environments, this material demonstrates remarkable resistance to corrosion and rust. Moreover, its durability and quality remain unaffected by sunlight exposure.
ACM sheets offer a wide array of color options and textures, ranging from smooth finishes to brushed aluminum appearances. They are compatible with various printing methods, including inkjet and screen printing. Additionally, they can be easily cut into desired shapes using a router. For these reasons, aluminum composite panels have gained widespread popularity for signage purposes.
In order to provide additional protection and make cleaning easier, signs can be coated with a laminate sealer containing UV protection and an anti-graffiti component. This ensures longevity and preserves the pristine appearance of the signage.
The beautification with signs project included printing various signs for Generations Church, each tailored to their specific needs. For the exterior signs:
- We produced a striking 60” x 32” sign for the exterior main entrance, which serves as a welcoming focal point for visitors.
- For maximum visibility from the street, we installed a two-sided exterior street sign measuring 48” x 72”. This sign, printed on durable ACM, effectively captures attention and conveys essential information about the church.
For interior beautification with signs:
- A&I directly printed an interior Worship Center 40” x 12” sign installed over the sanctuary double doors, ensuring vibrant colors and sharp details. We applied a laminate coating to enhance its durability and preserve its appearance.
- To provide clear directional guidance, we crafted seven 24” x 12” directional signs mounted on the walls using brushed aluminum stand-offs, adding a sleek and modern touch.
- Additionally, 8” x 18” single-sided signs with drill holes designed for hanging from the ceiling provide helpful wayfinding signage that ensures clear visibility and effective communication within the space.
- All directional and wayfinding signs featured the church’s distinctive green tree logo, printed over 3mm black aluminum with white ink. This achievement is noteworthy because not all printers are capable of utilizing white ink, making the sign truly special and visually captivating.
WHITE INK TECHNOLOGY EXPANDING POSSIBILITIES
The limitations of standard laser and inkjet printers become evident when it comes to printing with white ink. These printers rely on a combination of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks (CMYK) to produce various colors, but achieving white poses a challenge. Since white has no hue, mixing inks cannot create it.
In the past, digital printing technology faced the same obstacle, making the use of white ink virtually impossible. CMYK colors, being transparent, have the ability to blend and generate a wide range of colors within the spectrum. However, when it comes to offset printing, these colors struggle to cover dark surfaces effectively, rendering the printing of white ink unattainable.
Fortunately, advancements have been made in white ink printing technology. The introduction of white ink printers has expanded the possibilities by allowing printing on a broader range of surfaces. This includes colored papers and dark substrates, such as the black ACM used for the church signs. The ability to print with white ink enables greater versatility and enhances the vibrancy of other colors in the print. Printing on dark materials with just CMYK alone would be impossible without white ink.
At A&I, we have invested significantly in the latest printing technology to ensure high-quality results for our clients. Our state-of-the-art HP direct printers boast an innovative system that recirculates white ink, allowing us to achieve exceptional printing outcomes.
Our HP Latex White Ink is specifically engineered to deliver a remarkably opaque and visually striking white color. This is possible through exterior grade titanium dioxide pigments, contributing to the whitest white appearance. When applied, the white ink is layered smoothly, evenly, and flat, conforming to the shape of the media. This characteristic lets it reflect light directly and uniformly, producing high gloss consistency. Additionally, the ink helps preserve the texture of the media, whether it’s aluminum or wallcovering.
One notable advantage of our HP Latex White Ink is its resistance to yellowing over time. It is highly resistant to photochemical reactions and does not contain photo initiators, ensuring long-lasting color stability. With this cutting-edge white ink technology, A&I has embraced the future of printing, enabling us to deliver vibrant and visually captivating prints for our clients and your next beautification with signs project.
