Hospital Lobby Art and Signage
Perhaps hospitals aren’t people’s first choice of places to be or visit, but wouldn’t it be great if they were visually peaceful? Loma Linda University Hospital has many medical centers, and one goal is to create a place of serenity. The facility has added some beautiful graphics to ensure its patrons, patients, and visitors feel more at ease and welcomed. One such project was the “Poppy” picture in the main lobby. Directly printed on Aluminum composite material, these pictures give the “poppies” a metallic look. The image was printed in six sections and hung on the wall. As you enter the room, this focal work of art draws you in, evoking a feeling of assurance that everything will be okay.
Another type of signage you rely on when at a hospital is directionals. This type of signage helps get people where they need to go. Without them, navigating the building and campus can be a virtual maze, creating a frustrating experience for any visitor. Therefore, you must ensure your signage is up to date, looks sharp, and enhances the guest experience. People visit hospitals for various reasons; however, it becomes more stressful and frustrating if they cannot find what they need or where to go.
University-School District Signage
Signage is essential for the successful operation and public appearance of schools. Big or small, school campuses rely on signs to provide direction and guide visitors and students to classrooms, restrooms, and offices. They help relieve the stress of the first day or returning students to maneuver around the campus. Creating an effective wayfinding system requires signs consistent in material, color, and font. This way, everything looks cohesive and consistent, making it easier for students, faculties, and guests to navigate where they need to go.
The University of Redlands recently called A&I for some directory signage as the old signs were cracked and broken, and some contained incorrect information. We needed to create a directory that matched the one still being used and matching signs around the campus. We used ½” PVC material and put it on with double-sided tape. Nameplates on the directories slide out, so as faculty changes, they can easily and cost-effectively be replaced.
Restaurant Signage
Restaurants are far more successful when they effectively use signage to entice customers into their locations. Signage is usually the first thing customers see before they see inside or smell the food; therefore, the right signs are essential to entice them. Signage is used not only as outdoor advertising for your place but also as regulatory signs, including store hours, restroom signs, and handwashing signs. More choices include menus, branding and décor, temporary displays, A-Frame special signs, and more. You have the option of permanent signage and temporary signage.

Window posters and decals promote specials, and perforated window film advertises yet keeps the sun out. Restaurants must display public health notices, alcohol service signs and warnings, emergency exits, and directional signs to tell patrons where the line starts, how to pay, and even the wi-fi password.
