Welcoming Students Back with Thought-Provoking Messages and Graphics
A&I recently wrapped up our second project with Muroc Joint Unified School District. Two years after completing the perforated window vinyl project at Boron High School, the Superintendent reached out to A&I with a new request. He wanted to breathe school spirit and excitement into the grand opening of two brand new elementary school campuses. The themed graphics would welcome students back from a year of COVID restrictions. The project was on Edwards AFB for the Bailey and Branch Elementary School campuses.
Through consultation with the superintendent, we were able to understand his vision for the graphic enhancements at each campus. The final designs were a combination of school mascots, thought-provoking messages, and fun colorful images intended to inspire the students upon their entry into the new schools. For instance, at the front of the Branch Multipurpose room, a wall mural depicts the school mascot, colorful and majestic mustangs galloping toward the students. For this project, A&I selected the 3M IJ180 adhesive graphic film for its adhesion and durability. This film is formulated specifically for walls, indoor and outdoor graphics, and signs, including point-of-purchase and displays. The combo of the 3M material and our Latex Ink print technology create an Eco-friendly end product, great for health-conscious environments like schools and healthcare facilities. Additionally, this vinyl graphic film is a cost-effective alternative to expensive hand-painted murals.
Bailey Bears (K – 3rd Grade)
The superintendent’s vision for this multipurpose room was to create a fun environment for the younger kids. He said to incorporate the Bailey Bears mascot and a food theme. Our final graphics hit the nail on the head with an emphasis on fun with images including Vegie X-Men, Awesome Vegetables, Western theme Taco & Red Pepper, Children holding a Bailey Bears Banner and Family Time at the Park. A&I used the 3M IJ180 vinyl film with matte lamination to create graphic decals excellent for high-traffic areas. The material is low fading, washable, and ideal for use in places like cafeterias/multipurpose rooms. The bright color saturation provides maximum visual impact. These wall coverings will adorn the school for a long time, 7 or more years to be exact!
Branch Mustangs (4th – 6th Grades)
The superintendent’s vision for this multipurpose room was to create one high-impact mustang graphic covering the entire 40’ width of one wall and more mature themes for the older kids on two other walls. In addition to the galloping mustangs, we provided themed thought-provoking graphics covering Career Choices, Attitude, Self-Awareness, Diversity, and Inclusion. The library location features a mural that spans 36’ on the main wall above the bookshelves. The crisp, icy blue 3-D image highlights iconic monuments, cityscapes, and architectural feats from around the world. This image is intended to open the students’ minds to the world beyond their local community. The 3M IJ180 vinyl film used to print the mural displayed the graphic with such vibrancy of colors and tones that all shades of blues are emphasized, giving the illusion of the image popping out from the wall.
The students were welcomed back to Bailey and Branch, greeted by the many inspirational graphic murals and wall coverings that A&I designed, printed, and installed. We hope these new graphic enhancements will motivate, encourage, and excite students for years to come.
