AYALA BIG SCHOOL SPIRIT
Ayala High School wanted to create some school spirit in their lobby area that featured the school’s bulldog mascot and colors. The vinyl wallcovering included all these graphics with a bold red background that could not be ignored. The vibrant school spirit of the bulldog graphic is a welcoming image to all students and visitors. The once bland-painted lobby walls transformed into a lively, bright room filled with school spirit in a few days.
Unfortunately, no walls are ever perfectly square, but these were challenging for a few reasons. First, the walls were slanted, which posed issues when designing, printing, and hanging the wall vinyl. Before getting to that part, our A&I team does an “adhesion test” that tells us what grade of vinyl we need to use to ensure it sticks to and stays on the wall after installation.
The Ayala walls had a heavy texture and were 28 feet high and 220 inches wide. For the project, our team used the IJ180 vinyl by 3M for the best possible outcome, durability, and adhesion. Because the walls were at a slant, care and close attention were needed to ensure the graphics were centered, and there was enough extra vinyl to balance out the design and cover the wall.
The school district also had some cabinets they wanted “wrapped” for durability with a color that matched their baseboards. Vinyl wallcoverings are versatile, durable, and can be changed out very easily. Unlike paint, which can only take so many new coats before sanding it all off is required to start over. Vinyl wraps can be changed whenever your theme, mood, or décor changes. Peel it off, and another one is ready for installation. It’s that easy!
